With 50 years behind the chair, Trina Glade is a true veteran of the beauty industry. Her journey began at just sixteen, braiding hair from home — and she quickly became known for it. When her mother bought her a mannequin head, Trina practiced until it was bald.

With 50 years behind the chair, Trina Glade is a true veteran of the beauty industry. Her journey began at just sixteen, braiding hair from home — and she quickly became known for it. When her mother bought her a mannequin head, Trina practiced until it was bald.
When the Jerry curl arrived in 1979, Trina was already in demand, doing curly kits from home for $20 a head. She moved to South Florida in 1980, entered beauty school in 1981, and then spent 11 years apprenticing under Anna Lee Thomas at Paula's House of Beauty.
Today, Trina specializes in custom wigs, alopecia lace fronts, quick weaves, and precision cuts. What drives her after all these years? 'I take pleasure in seeing a woman's face when she sees her before and after — and she walks out of the shop with a smile on her face. That is what I work for every day.'
